Business-Tower (Nuremberg)

The Business Tower Nuremberg is, at 135 metres, the tallest building in the city and the headquarters of Nuernberger Versicherung. Designed by the architects Durst and Hurrle and completed between 1995 and 2000 next to the Ostbahnhof, it is a freestanding ellipse with a blue-green glass skin. The footprint echoes the pylons of the nearby Friedrich-Ebert bridge and gives an otherwise low skyline a distinct vertical accent. Because the tower is a working office block, the interior is normally closed to visitors. From the Wohrd and Marientor districts the glass facade reads especially well after dusk, when the shaft is uplit.
