Sembawang Hot Spring Park is home to Singapore's only natural hot spring, a geological oddity tucked into a verdant park beside a military camp off Gambas Avenue. The spring was discovered in 1909 during the British colonial era, and its mineral water was later bottled commercially by Fraser and Neave under the Seletaris brand — a detail most visitors today are unaware of. After changing hands multiple times and surviving various redevelopment proposals, the National Parks Board took over and reopened a fully renovated park in 2020, complete with foot-bathing pools, egg-cooking stations fed by the 70 °C spring water, and shaded walking paths. The rural, rustic atmosphere feels deliberately removed from Singapore's dense urban fabric, making it a favourite escape for locals seeking a quiet, tactile encounter with nature just minutes from the city.
