Sembawang Air Base

Also known as: WSAG

Singapore

Sembawang Air Base in northern Singapore is the main operating base for the Republic of Singapore Air Force's helicopter squadrons. It opened in 1938 as RAF Sembawang and transferred to Singaporean control in 1971, but retains a Royal New Zealand Air Force presence to this day. The base is a restricted military area and not open to the public. For travellers it is mainly relevant as a feature of northern Singapore's airspace; it can be glimpsed only from the Johor Strait waterfront.
