Wasserschloss Lohrbach

Wasserschloss Lohrbach, located in the Mosbach district of Lohrbach in the Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis, is a moated castle whose origins date to the 10th century, making it one of the oldest fortified sites in the region. Like many German Wasserburgen, it was ringed by a defensive water moat that both protected its noble occupants and gave the complex its distinctive silhouette. The estate changed hands among regional noble families throughout the medieval period, leaving its mark on the local history of the Odenwald. Today the castle and its surrounding park offer a quiet, largely undiscovered retreat — the exterior and grounds can be explored on foot, away from the more heavily visited sites along the Neckar valley.
