ЗРК С-75 «Двіна»

This preserved S-75 Dvina surface-to-air missile system, displayed as an open-air memorial in Odessa, represents one of the most consequential weapons of the Cold War era. Developed in the Soviet Union in the 1950s, the S-75 gained global notoriety in May 1960 when it shot down an American U-2 spy plane over Soviet territory, triggering a major diplomatic crisis between the superpowers. Deployed across dozens of countries and central to Warsaw Pact air-defense doctrine for decades, it remains one of history's most widely used anti-aircraft systems. The Odessa installation serves as a reminder of the city's role as a strategically vital Soviet Black Sea port.
