Abbaye Saint-Mathieu-de-Fine-Terre

The former Benedictine abbey of Saint-Mathieu de Fine-Terre stands as a dramatic ruin on a rocky headland at the westernmost tip of Brittany, where the Atlantic meets the English Channel. The site dates to the early Middle Ages and served for centuries as a significant pilgrimage destination; the surviving walls of the Gothic nave hint at the complex's former scale.
