Abtei Sankt Arnulf

The Abbey of Saint-Arnoul in Metz traces its origins to a Benedictine monastery founded in the 6th century, making it one of the oldest religious institutions in Lorraine. It takes its name from Saint Arnulf of Metz, a Frankish bishop of the early 7th century and ancestor of the Carolingian dynasty, whose remains were interred here — a fact that quickly established the site as a pilgrimage destination.
