Albtalbahnhof

Albtalbahnhof is a rail interchange in central Karlsruhe, a short walk from the main station. First opened in 1897 as the terminus of the metre-gauge Albtalbahn — originally at a different site — it changed names and locations several times before settling at its current position near the Messplatz. Operated by the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft under tram regulations, it exemplifies the seamless rail-to-tram interchange that made the so-called Karlsruhe Model famous in urban transit planning worldwide.
