Amsterdam Tulip Museum

The Amsterdam Tulip Museum on Prinsengracht in the Jordaan is a small specialist museum on the tulip's journey from the mountains of Central Asia, through Ottoman culture, to the Dutch tulip mania. Opened in 2004, it occupies two basement rooms beneath a flower shop and covers Carolus Clusius's first imports at the Leiden botanical garden, original 17th-century tulip books, and the 1637 bubble when one bulb cost as much as a canal house. A visit takes about 30 minutes; the shop above sells certified export bulbs for visitors to take home.
