Bahnhof Küchwaldwiese

Küchwaldwiese station is one of the stops on the Parkeisenbahn Chemnitz, a 600mm narrow-gauge railway running a 2.3 km loop through Küchwaldpark. During the GDR era the line operated as a Pioniereisenbahn — a socialist youth programme in which children took on roles as drivers, signallers, and station staff under adult supervision. After 1990 the railway continued under a non-profit operator. Today it functions as a family day-out destination where children get hands-on exposure to real railway operations at park speed, running on authentic narrow-gauge rolling stock.
