Ben More

Ben More — Gaelic for 'Big Mountain' — stands at 1,174 metres, making it the highest summit in Britain south of the River Tay and 16th on the list of Scottish Munros. It rises steeply above Glen Dochart in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, just south-east of the small village of Crianlarich. The standard ascent starts directly from the A85 roadside and follows unrelenting grassy slopes with no technical difficulty, though the near-1,000-metre elevation gain demands solid hill fitness and proper navigation skills in poor visibility. On a clear day the summit rewards with views stretching north to the Cairngorms and west to the Firth of Clyde coastline.
