Deadwood Peak

Deadwood Peak is a 6,280-foot summit sitting on the crest of the Cascade Range along the eastern boundary of Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State. The Pacific Crest Trail traverses its eastern slope, making the peak accessible to long-distance hikers passing through Chinook Pass. Its name traces back to Deadwood Lakes and Deadwood Creek to the northwest, which themselves were named for the large stands of dead timber once found in the surrounding valley. The nearest higher summit, Naches Peak, lies just under a mile to the southeast. From the top, hikers get open views across the Cascades, with Mount Rainier dominating the western skyline.
