Askøybrua

Bergen

The Askøy Bridge is a steel suspension bridge completed in 1992, connecting the island of Askøy to the Bergen mainland across the Byfjord. Before it opened, the island was accessible only by ferry; the bridge triggered rapid population growth, making Askøy one of Norway's fastest-expanding municipalities in the following decades. Its 850-metre main span sits within a broad fjord landscape west of Bergen, offering drivers views across open water and the surrounding island archipelago.
