Bergen domkirke

Bergen Cathedral — Bergen domkirke — is the seat of the Lutheran Diocese of Bjørgvin and one of Norway's oldest standing sacred buildings. Founded around 1150, the surviving Gothic ashlar masonry dates largely from the second half of the 13th century, making it a rare intact example of medieval ecclesiastical architecture on Norway's west coast. During the Reformation in the 16th century the building transitioned from Catholic to Lutheran use, a shift that shaped the religious landscape of the entire Vestland region. The listed cathedral sits in central Bergen and opens to visitors on select weekday midday hours, with full wheelchair access.
