Ashdod Ad Halom Metropol railway station

Ashdod Ad Halom Metropol is an active passenger station on Israel Railways' Sinai line in southern Israel. It opened in November 1917 as a military halt built by the Palestine Military Railways to supply British forces advancing against Ottoman positions. Civilian rail services began in 1920 under the Palestine Railways, when the stop was named after the nearby Arab village of Isdud — today an abandoned site. The current station building dates from 1995, while the Ad Halom element of its name commemorates a bridge on Ashdod's eastern outskirts that saw fighting during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. For travellers it functions primarily as a southern interchange toward Tel Aviv.
