Gambir railway station

Gambir station stands at the edge of Merdeka Square, where Jakarta's Monas national monument rises — making it arguably the most symbolically charged railway station in Indonesia. Opened in 1884 under Dutch colonial rule, it began as a hub of the colonial economy and now serves as Jakarta's principal long-distance terminal.
