Halwill Junction railway station

Halwill Junction was once a significant interchange station in rural West Devon, connecting several branch lines across the southwest of England. It fell victim to the Beeching cuts of the 1960s, losing its last passenger services in 1966 and falling steadily into disuse. Today little remains of the station buildings, and the site has been largely reclaimed by vegetation. The westward trackbed has been designated a nature reserve and opened as a cycling and walking route — a quiet, overgrown trace of a railway network that once stitched together Devon's most remote villages.
