Jünkerath train station

Jünkerath station is a Historismus-era railway building on the Eifel line between Cologne and Gerolstein, protected as a cultural monument in Rhineland-Palatinate. It was once a significant junction station, a role reflected in the relatively grand design of its passenger building. Successive line closures stripped it of that importance, leaving it as a simple intermediate stop on a regional route. The station now stands as a quiet monument to 19th-century railway ambition and the gradual economic decline of rural Eifel infrastructure in the 20th century.
