Blankenburg

Berlin-Blankenburg station sits in the city's northeastern district of the same name and is one of the few suburban stops in Berlin distinguished by a listed neoclassical station building. Its rail-historical significance lies in the junction it forms: the Stettiner Bahn — one of Prussia's oldest long-distance rail corridors — meets the Berlin outer ring line here. Through the 1960s and 1970s it served as a transfer point for steam- and diesel-hauled commuter trains under the GDR regional network, a role that gave the stop considerably more traffic than it sees today. It now operates as a standard S-Bahn stop with step-free platform access.
