Las Vegas station

The Las Vegas Union Pacific Depot was the city's sole railroad station and a direct catalyst for Las Vegas's founding in 1905, when the Union Pacific Railroad auctioned off lots around the new stop to settlers and speculators. Built in the Mission Revival style common to early 20th-century southwestern rail depots, it operated continuously from 1905 until 1997 — nearly the full lifespan of the pre-megaresort city. Now closed to rail traffic, the building survives as one of the few tangible remnants of Las Vegas before the casino strip defined its identity.
