Shin-Yūbari Station

Shin-Yūbari Station sits within the city of Yūbari in the Sorachi Subprefecture of Hokkaido, opened in 1892 during the Meiji era when Japan was rapidly expanding its rail network across Hokkaido to reach inland coal-mining areas. Yūbari once defined Hokkaido's coal industry and today is better known as the origin of the prized Yūbari King muskmelon. The station itself is a modest stop with little tourist infrastructure.
