Shiranuka Station

Shiranuka Station is a small rural stop in the sparsely populated town of Shiranuka, Kushiro Subprefecture, on the island of Hokkaido. It opened in 1901 during the Meiji era, when Japan was rapidly extending its rail network across Hokkaido to open up the northern frontier. Today it functions as a quiet local station with little tourist infrastructure beyond the platform itself.
