Glarus railway station

Glarus railway station is an intermediate stop on the Ziegelbrücke–Linthal line and, together with its freight shed, locomotive sheds and turntable, forms a remarkably intact ensemble from the early era of Swiss rail construction. The entire complex holds Class A status as a Swiss cultural asset of national importance — the country's highest protection category — recognizing the rarity of such a complete 19th-century station grouping. The iron turntable, once used to rotate steam locomotives for their return journey, remains one of the most tangible relics of early railway operations in the canton of Glarus.
