Wolfenbüttel railway station

Wolfenbüttel railway station, opened in 1838, is among the oldest surviving station buildings in Germany, sitting on the non-electrified lines toward Braunschweig and Bad Harzburg. The building is listed as a Kulturdenkmal, reflecting its significance as a relic of Germany's earliest railway era — the station opened just years after the country's first intercity line began operation. A renovation in 2004/2005 removed one of three former tracks and took the historic structure out of active rail service entirely. It now stands as a quiet monument to the region's early industrialization.
