Baikonur
Baiqongyr is a station on the Almaty Metro, opened on 1 December 2011 as part of the line's inaugural section. It takes its name from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the storied Soviet-era launch facility in the Kazakh steppe. As a standard urban transit stop, it holds no particular architectural or cultural distinction beyond its function within the city's metro network.
