Nuestra Señora del Rosario y San Benito de Palermo, Paysandú

This Roman Catholic parish church in Paysandú, Uruguay holds the honorary rank of Basilica minor and belongs to the Diocese of Salto. Its neorenaissance facade is a protected landmark and one of the more distinctive ecclesiastical buildings in the region. The dual dedication is noteworthy: the church honors both Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Benedict the Moor — one of the few Black African saints in the Catholic canon, a 16th-century Franciscan lay brother from Sicily whose veneration spread widely across Latin America. The interior offers a quiet retreat from the surrounding city center.
