Bergen auf Rügen

Bergen auf Rügen station is the main rail hub on the island of Rügen, where the line from Stralsund to Sassnitz meets the branch to Lauterbach Mole. Its listed neuromanesque station building is one of the more architecturally notable railway structures in Western Pomerania. Until 1970, the station also served as the starting point of the Rügen narrow-gauge railway network to Altenkirchen, a now-vanished system that once connected much of the island. Today it is served by Deutsche Bahn long-distance trains and regional services from two smaller operators, with full wheelchair accessibility.
