Blaue Scheune

The Blaue Scheune in Vitte on the car-free island of Hiddensee is a Low German hall-house dating to the 18th century, its walls layered with the island's working history. Built as a fisherman's cottage, it later served as a barn for a miller and baker before being repurposed as an artist's studio — a trajectory typical of Hiddensee's early 20th-century artist colony.
