Auchentoshan Distillery
Auchentoshan is one of the few remaining working Lowland Scotch whisky distilleries, situated on the western outskirts of Glasgow in Dalmuir, West Dunbartonshire. Founded in 1823, it is best known for its rare triple-distillation process — unusual even by Scottish standards — which produces a characteristically light, grassy, and approachable single malt compared to the peatier Highland and Islay styles. The 19th-century industrial buildings remain in active use, giving tours a genuine working-distillery atmosphere rather than a museum feel. Guided tours walk visitors through each distillation stage before concluding with a tasting session; a well-stocked distillery shop carries exclusive bottlings not available elsewhere.
