A Blue Plaque in West Bromwich marks the birthplace of Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh (1864–1933), Scottish painter, designer, and one of the key figures of the Art Nouveau movement. Born in the town, she later moved to Glasgow where she and her husband Charles Rennie Mackintosh developed the Glasgow Style — a distinctive branch of Art Nouveau characterized by stylized organic forms and symbolist imagery. Despite her central creative role, she long remained overshadowed by her husband's fame; recent scholarship has reasserted her as an equal contributor. The plaque is a small but pointed reminder of her overlooked local roots.
