Brauselay

Brauselay is a prominent slate rock formation rising above the Moselle river in the Cond district of Cochem, Rhineland-Palatinate, and lends its name to a designated nature reserve. The rocky outcrop offers open views across a Moselle bend and the surrounding vine-covered slopes. The reserve was established to protect the region's characteristic cliff vegetation, including rare dry-grassland and rock-crevice plant communities typical of the Moselle valley. Hikers reach the crest via well-marked trails of the Cochemer Moselsteig; the climb is short but steep in places. Away from Cochem's busier tourist areas, the site feels noticeably quiet.
