Brauselay

The Brauselay is a prominent slate rock formation rising steeply from the Moselle riverbank in Cond, a district of Cochem in Rhineland-Palatinate, and lends its name to a designated nature reserve. The vantage point at the rock's edge opens onto a sweeping view of one of the Moselle's characteristic tight river bends, with vineyard slopes and the town of Cochem visible downstream. The protected area shelters the dry, heat-loving vegetation typical of the slate-Moselle landscape — sparse grassland and thermophilous plant communities clinging to the rocky outcrops. Hikers pass through via the long-distance Moselsteig trail, which runs directly along the cliff edge.
