Bürgerpark

Bürgerpark and the adjoining Stadtwald together cover more than 200 hectares, making them Bremen's second-largest green space after the park west of the Weser. The grounds were established in the late 19th century as a civic project funded by Bremen's merchant bourgeoisie, and they remain a listed cultural monument of the Free Hanseatic City. A dense network of paths winds through open meadows, old-growth trees, and several ponds available for rowing. What distinguishes the site is its seamless transition from a designed landscape park into a proper urban forest — an unusual combination that gives it a distinctly different feel from the typical city park.
