Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul

The Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul is the episcopal seat of Nantes and one of the most significant Gothic structures in the Pays de la Loire. Construction began in 1434 and stretched across several centuries, yielding an interior nave that rises higher than the famous transept at Chartres Cathedral. A classified French historic monument, it shelters the tomb of Francis II, Duke of Brittany, and his wife — a Renaissance masterpiece carved by Michel Colombe around 1507 and considered one of the finest funerary sculptures in France. The cathedral is fully wheelchair-accessible, and its stained-glass windows span multiple centuries of craftsmanship.
