Central San Vicente

Central San Vicente was Puerto Rico's first sugarcane refinery, founded in 1873 by Leonardo Igaravidez in the municipality of Vega Baja. Its establishment marked the beginning of industrial sugar production on the island, making it a tangible link to Puerto Rico's colonial agricultural economy under Spanish rule in the late 19th century. The site stands as an industrial heritage landmark of that era; visitors should verify current access and condition locally.
