Denk-Mal Güterwagen

An original goods wagon together with a figure group in front of the Winterhude district school in Hamburg, installed in 1996 by the artists POM and Cristine Schell. The wagon commemorates the deportation of two Jewish women teachers from the neighboring Meerweinstrasse school, representing the district's victims of National Socialism. Around the wagon stand sculpted figures of pupils and adults meant to be in conversation with the memorial. The piece is part of a deliberate teaching concept at the school whose front doors it faces.
