Hamburg Stadtpark

Hamburg's Stadtpark is a 148-hectare reform-style public park in the Winterhude district, designed between 1910 and 1914 by city architect Fritz Schumacher and landscape planner Otto Linne. The park embodies the Wilhelmine reform-garden philosophy: broad lawns, curving paths, and a central lake meant to give working-class Hamburgers genuine outdoor relief rather than ornamental gardens. Its most recognizable structure is the former water tower, converted into the Hamburg Planetarium in 1930 and still operating today. An open-air stage draws summer crowds to everything from symphony performances to pop concerts. On any given weekend the park layers joggers circling the lake, families on the lawns, and Biergarten regulars into one of Hamburg's most-used green spaces.

Designed as a 1914 people's park — summer open-air concerts, the Planetarium and an awful lot of Hamburgers with grills and blankets.
