German Hygiene Museum

The German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, founded in 1912, today sees itself as a public forum for science, culture and society rather than a strictly medical museum. The present building by Wilhelm Kreis opened in 1930 in a stark Neue Sachlichkeit idiom, was heavily bombed in 1945 and pragmatically rebuilt under the GDR before a full refurbishment between 2001 and 2005. Its iconic exhibit is the Transparent Human of 1930, whose current version still draws crowds. The permanent show "Abenteuer Mensch" and the Children's Museum make it one of Saxony's strongest family destinations. Admission around nine euro, family tariff available.
