German Dance Archives Cologne

The German Dance Archive Cologne in the Mediapark has been the central memory of German stage dance since 1985. Archive, library, video collection and a small museum document choreographies, estates of dancers and choreographers, programmes and posters from Weimar-era Ausdruckstanz to post-dramatic work. The collection holds hundreds of thousands of photographs and serves as a research stop for scholars, dramaturgs and anyone restaging historical pieces. The museum area hosts rotating exhibitions on figures such as Mary Wigman or Pina Bausch. More for dance fans, students and curators than for walk-in tourists, but easy to combine with other stops in the Mediapark.
