Diamond Museum Amsterdam

The Diamond Museum on Amsterdam's Museumplein has been telling the story of diamond cutting since 2007, the craft that made the city wealthy in the 17th century. Owner Ben Meier also runs adjacent Coster Diamonds, the workshop that in 1852 re-cut the Koh-i-Noor for Queen Victoria. Displays include replicas of famous stones, tools and visual guides explaining the cutting process from rough diamond to brilliant. The collection also covers the rise of Jewish diamond workers who turned Amsterdam into Europe's diamond capital. The tour is compact, and you can extend it with a live cutting demonstration next door at Coster.
