Donauturm

Also known as: Danube Tower, Vienna Donauturm

At 252 meters, the Donauturm is Austria's tallest structure - a slender concrete pin built in the Donaupark for the Vienna International Garden Show in 1964. Back then it housed the world's tallest revolving restaurant; the dining floor at 170 meters completes one rotation every 39 minutes. Two observation decks above and below sit at 150 and 155 meters - on clear days the view reaches the Vienna Woods and even Bratislava. Since the 1990s the tower has been an official bungee jump platform; for a fee, the brave can jump off the observation deck. Despite the newer DC Tower next door, the Donauturm remains the emotional landmark of the Donau City skyline.
