Esperanto Museum and Collection of Planned Languages

The Esperanto Museum of the Austrian National Library, housed in the Baroque Palais Mollard on Herrengasse, is one of the oldest and largest language museums in the world. Founded in 1927 by the First Republic, it collects printed works, recordings, and objects on Esperanto and more than 500 other planned languages such as Volapuk, Ido, and Klingon. The attached Collection of Planned Languages contains around 150,000 volumes and is part of the UNESCO Memory of the World register. Highlights include original letters by Esperanto creator Ludwik Zamenhof, Nazi-era ban documents, and an interactive trail on language construction. Tickets combine with the Globe Museum in the same palace.
