Tan Son Nhat International Airport

Also known as: Tân Sơn Nhứt airport

Vietnam's busiest airport and the main gateway to Ho Chi Minh City, carrying the historic Saigon code SGN from its colonial-era origins.

Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport is Vietnam's largest and busiest airport, located in the northern part of Ho Chi Minh City. For most travellers it is the first point of entry into the country's largest metropolis. Originally opened in the 1930s under French colonial rule, the airport played a significant military role during the Vietnam War — its IATA code SGN still references the city's former name, Saigon. Handling over 40 million passengers annually in recent years, Tân Sơn Nhất ranks among the most frequented airports in Southeast Asia.
