A lively square in Hamburg's Neustadt, right next to the State Opera. A meeting point between Jungfernstieg, shopping arcades, and cultural life — marked by a Handel statue.

Gänsemarkt is a triangular urban square in Hamburg's Neustadt district, at the junction of Jungfernstieg, Dammtorstraße, and Valentinskamp. Its name recalls the historic goose market that took place here until the 18th century. Today the square is best known for its central location: the Hamburg State Opera stands immediately adjacent, and several major shopping arcades open onto the square, making it a busy hub connecting Hamburg's cultural and retail cores. A statue of Georg Friedrich Handel commemorates the composer's time in Hamburg in the early 18th century, when he wrote his first operas here before moving to London.
