Kleines Schloss / Damenhaus

The Kleines Schloss — also known as the Damenhaus — is a small Tudor Gothic building constructed in 1830 within Park Babelsberg in Potsdam. It was built during the early landscaping of the park commissioned by Prince Wilhelm, later Emperor Wilhelm I, and his wife Augusta, who sought to create a romantic, picturesque retreat along the Havel riverbank. The broader park ensemble was shaped by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and subsequently by Peter Joseph Lenné and Hermann von Pückler-Muskau; this intimate structure served as a retreat for the ladies of the court. Listed as a protected monument in Brandenburg, the building today operates as a café with outdoor seating beneath mature trees, open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm.
