Krasiński Square

Krasinski Square (Plac Krasinskich) lies at the northern edge of Warsaw's Old Town, at the junction of Dluga, Miodowa, Swietojerska and Bonifraterska streets. It was laid out in the 18th century in front of the Krasinski Palace and still serves as its forecourt. Its best-known monument is the Pomnik Powstania Warszawskiego (1989), commemorating the 1944 Warsaw Uprising in two bronze groups: insurgents charging and the escape through the sewers, which historically exited here. Architecturally the square is framed by the palace, the former Court of Appeal and other neoclassical buildings; traffic arteries and tram stops make it a central transit point. History-minded visitors usually combine the square with the nearby Warsaw Uprising Museum.
