Air and Space Museum

The Musee de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le Bourget airport north of Paris is one of the oldest and largest aviation museums in the world. Founded by Albert Caquot in 1919 and moved to Le Bourget in 1975 - the very field where Charles Lindbergh landed after his solo Atlantic crossing in 1927 - it spreads over 16 hectares and shows more than 400 aircraft. Highlights include two walk-through Concordes, original fighters from both world wars, and Soviet and French spacecraft. A full-height Ariane 1 rocket stands at the entrance. The historic 1937 Paris pavilion has survived. Free entry to the outdoor area and main hall makes it a strong family destination.
