Video Games Museum

The Computerspielemuseum in Berlin opened in 1997 as the world's first museum dedicated to interactive digital entertainment. Since January 2011 it has occupied a striking GDR-era building on Karl-Marx-Allee, once East Berlin's grand boulevard. Across roughly 700 square meters it shows around 300 exhibits, from the rare Brown Box of 1968, the prototype of the first home console, to current VR setups. The highlight is the wall of classic games, where visitors can try Pong, Pac-Man, Tetris and Super Mario on the original consoles. The museum is not only a showcase but also a research institution, systematically archiving the cultural heritage of the video game industry and curating special exhibitions such as pong.mythos. Families with children eight and up easily spend a full afternoon here.
