Žižkov Television Tower

Prague's tallest structure with crawling baby sculptures by David Černý — a striking panoramic landmark in the Žižkov district.

The Žižkov Television Tower, at 216 meters, is Prague's tallest structure and one of its most unusual architectural landmarks. Completed in 1992, it was built on a Jewish cemetery in the Žižkov district, a fact that still sparks debate. The futuristic steel and glass construction was designed by architect Václav Aulický and continues to divide opinion: listed by Virtual Tourist as one of the world's ugliest buildings, it has nevertheless become unmistakably Praguian. It is also famous for the ten crawling baby sculptures by artist David Černý, which climb up the tower's shafts. The observation deck at 93 meters height offers wide panoramic views over Prague, and the tower also houses a hotel room.
