Panionios Athens' traditional home ground — built in 1939, UEFA Europa League eligible, in the southern Athens suburb of Nea Smyrni.
Nea Smyrni Stadium in the southern Athens suburb of the same name is the home ground of Panionios, one of Greece's most traditional football clubs. Built in 1939, the all-seat stadium currently holds 11,700 spectators — down from roughly 19,000 before 1998 when full seating was installed for Panionios' participation in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. The stadium's attendance record of 20,950 dates from a 1974 derby against Panathinaikos. Eligible to host UEFA Europa League matches, it remains a classic example of pre-war Greek stadium design with a combined athletics facility.
